    Jillian Michael's 30 Day Shred

    hey guys,

i saw another user had posted a thread about a workout video, and i didn't want to hijack it, so here we are.

i just started the Jillian Michael's 30 day shred. have any of you heard of this DVD?

    most importantly...DOES IT WORK!?

i made it through workout 1, however i most definitely cheated a bit. i figured it was better to make it through the whole workout and take it easy than it would be to turn it off and keep doing the same parts of the workout over again until i progress.

HOWEVER, i am SO bleeping sore now! way too sore to do the workout again until probably tomorrow, or the day after. that's ok though, as i start working out more and more it'll get easier.

i just really need to find something i love doing to keep me active. pretty sure gaining 20 pounds in a year is NOT healthy! (mind you, i DID quit smoking, so that offsets the unhealthyness a slight amount). i don't want to use that as an excuse though.

so anyone else trying to GET FIT, we can all hang out here...(in between workouts of course)

Use that 30 day power workout to get yourself in shape, then STAY ACTIVE to keep yourself at a level you like to be at once you get there

    Good luck!

Re: Jillian Michael's 30 Day Shred

Just as a tip for muscle gain. Idk what sex you are but muscle burns fat so even girls need to gain muscle. Sorry tangent, stretch!!!! Before and after every workout. Helps tear the muscle more then you already did (helps muscle growth).

Also I don't want to be mean but it won't be 30 days to get you "in shape". Ppl you see on the ads are the 1% who try it. Most of these DVDs and what not aren't a get riped or toned quick tool. You should see them as a helpful step on you way to a better body. USE what she teaches to further yourself beyond the 30 days. THAT is where ppl get fit and stay fit.

Sorry just trying to help out. Also you don't have to go on a HUGE diet to get fit. You can eat normal and still get there. It's just WHAT foods you eat. For instance, you go out and you want chicken. Choices are, baked, grilled and breaded. The Chicken is good for you, how it is cooked is not. Always go with the healther option.

And just 1 more thing. Know when to eat and how many meals to eat. Eating too late is bad for digestion of food and burning it off. Also 4-6 small meals a day are better than 3 bigger ones.

Re: Jillian Michael's 30 Day Shred

    thanks MitsuMike!

i am definitely trying to eat a bit less/healthier.

and i'm aware this certainly isn't going to work wonders in 30 days, i am mostly using it as a stepping stone, a motivation tool, if you will, to throw me into the world of working out.

i had it suggested to my by a "seasoned" worker outer. she told me that she really liked Jillian's DVD because she actually explains to you how to move your body to get the best results, and so that you don't injure yourself. i'll let you know how i'm doing in a few weeks!

With any routine be sure to run in between workings sore or not. This helps break up the lactic acid build up on mussels and allows faster recovery.

I work out mon, wed, fri and run the days im not lifting. Running is a huge key in recovery

Re: Jillian Michael's 30 Day Shred

For snacks, I'd say things that have alot of protein and/or fiber. Or, what I do and should do more, is bake those Fiber One muffins. I use the packets, and also put two scoops of protein powder in the mix. Any flavor taste good. We have blueberry mix and chocolate powder. You can't even really taste the powder, and it's a really satisfying snack. Protein bars are good snacks, but they do not taste good, and you need to drink a glass of water with them. If you find one that tastes good, let me know!!! (or anyone for that matter)

As far as the workout, I wouldn't trust it to get you total shape. And your first week is going to be hell on earth. At first I was doing a mix of lifting and cardio for about 8 months. The past 3 months I've been doing all cardio, and now just started a weight lifting class. I'm sore! It sucks, but it'll be worth it in 10 pounds. I'm also taking a "Fat Burner" twice a day. It doesn't have caffiene in it, it just tells your body to burn the stored fat you have. If you decide to take a weight lose supplement, remember it's just there to aid you, not do the job. I get mine from a place called Juice It Up. It's the fat burner that they put in smoothies, so I feel really comfortable with it.

As long as you keep an open mind and don't think that there's only one way to get in shape, you won't have a problem. There's always tweaks you can do to exercises that might or might not be better for you.

Sorry for the rambling, working out is one of my favorite things to talk about, lol.

Just a suggestion, but try running before you work out for like a mile. Nothing long or tiring. This will allow testosterone to be cycled through you body along with loosening you up. Doing legs once a week will help this out as well. Testosterone = steroids (natural, haha), which means better body faster.

    Also Good Luck!!
