Re: python wars!
from the article:
"The FWC does not pay bounties for pythons. Authorized hunters may sell the hide and meat--although the agency notes that Burmese pythons from Everglades National Park have been found to have very high levels of mercury and may not be recommended for human consumption."
yeah, the man made and controlled everglades is real pristine.

Do burmese pythons really lay 100 eggs in captivity? Or is that a load of BS?

Re: python wars!
I dont think there is any reptile that can lay 100 eggs.. Maybe some kind of frog? Insects for sure. But not reptiles.

That is what I thought, even National Geo doesn't have their facts straight. So sad

Re: python wars!
I've heard members here who breed burms claim to have 100, even 120 egg clutches from very large burms.

Rabbits destroyed Australia. Mussels caused serious damage to the Great Lakes. Non-native species are a threat regardless of whether it's a giant python or a fuzzy bunny. Seems like a good idea to me to capture and kill.

when it comes to the zebra mussels in the great lakes its pretty much who you ask, cuz they have cleaned up the lakes clairity vastly plants and most animals are doing better since they have been intoduced and alot of native species are eatting them up like candy. they have hurt a couple of native animals. kind of a catch 22 with them they seem to piss people off with blocking of water pipes and clinging to boats more than anything.

Yes they can. It is rare, but it does happen. Mike Wilbanks had an albino lay 102 eggs. That is the largest that I have verifiably herd of.
