    Geting Blood Python !!

    Hello all.
I wanted to find out as much as I can and learn as much as I can about the short tail/ blood python.

It has always been my favorite snake and I am looking into getting one at the Hamburg show in February. I have done quite a bit of research, however I have questions....

I am sold on the idea of using a sterilite container.....my question is how do you guys regulate temperature (heating pads, lights) with these types of containers?

You don't need lights for snakes. UTH's always need a thermostat for regulation otherwise they get far too hot.

For a younger blood, locking lid sterilites will be fine. For an adult, I recommend an animal plastics cage over anything really.

    agree with this good advice.

It's good to see a potential blood owner take the time to make sure he researches what they need and sets about getting it in place for when he does acquire the snake. They do best on a good supply of rats make sure that getting them at any size wont be a problem where you are is another bit of advice I would give.
There is a moose loose aboot this hoose !

Requirements temperture wise is an ambient of 80 to 85 degrees..
Bloods and short tails do not like it as hot as many of the others that are kept..If the ambient temps stay within this range +/- a wee bit you should be fine..Check out www.bloodpythons.com for more reading on the species..
Good luck and glad to have another on the thick side..
