    pine table

I just finished building a table for my snake room and after the excitement of finally getting the product of all my hard work in the room i noticed there was a pine smell. It then dawned on me that i just made a table with everything except for the counter top out of raw pine 2x4's. Is this something that i need to get out of the room and or could i apply some kind of clear coat or finish and it be alright?

I think you should be fine if you apply a clear coat finish to it. You need to be sure to let the clear coat fully cure for about a week or so I beleive.

    Re: pine table

I dont think it's the smell of the pine that would bother the animals, its the direct contact with the oils in the wood that isn't good for them.

That's to the best of my knowledge.

its the oils that are toxic, no need to worry.
