You need to get a thermostat to regulate it. Otherwise it could and will cook your snake! Now some places that sell these will say you don't need them....you do!!

Yes and it should be plugged into a thermostat.

Any heat source need to be controlled by a thermostat to provide proper temps and avoid over-heating, which could lead to severe burns.

there is no self regulating heat pad they all need to be controlled even those that are supposedly not getting over a certain temps actually do.

You have a heat pad you need a thermostat or it will be an accident to happen.

And remember what is warm to you to the touch is often too hot for a hot spot.

For example your body temp is 98.6 therefore a heat pad at 98.6 would feel barely warm to you however the temp would be too high for a BP.

I will direct you back to what I recommended you to go over in one of your previous thread

    Re: need info

Go to reptile basics they have good ones. There is also one called a Herpstat

If you cannot get one right away I might suggest a heat lamp until you can plug your heat pad into a thermostat. The only reason I keep pushing this is because I have seen really really bad pictures of what happens when they are not regulated.
