Looking for an online supply of rat blocks

My rat colony is getting a good size and I find I am going through (and wasting) a lot of food. The junk in the local petco ois both expensive and I assume could be better. I don't think the rats eat the grains and seeds. I got some kaytee blocks for now, but I am looking to take things to the next step. A staple diet of rodent blocks that I dont need to go out and get once a week at nearly 13 bucks for 5 pounds or under. I rather get a 25-50 pound bag for 50 bucks a month or something.

Does anyone have any recomendations where to get quality rodent chow? A URL would be nice

    Thanks!
And sorry for not searching, my computer is not working well and I am borrowing my sisters, but at least I can pop in on my cell phone

The problem with ordering online is the weight. You will pay a lot for the shipping.

But you can order 33lbs bags here http://www.theratshop.com/shop/produ...&products_id=6

I have not personally ordered from them but have heard good things. I have ordered from http://www.craftyrat.com/Merchant2/m...tegory_Code=VP and they are excellent.

If you have any feed stores near you, you could look into getting some blocks there.

Your best bet would be a local feed store. Give them a call and ask if they can order Rodent food (Mazuri 6f). Ordering online isn't usually worth it because the shipping is very expensive.

And to add to Lawrence's post if you need help locating a feed store that carries Mazuri here is the link http://shop.mazuri.com/ (use the dealer locator on the top right)

Having lab block shipped would be VERY expensive!

None of the stores in my town can/will order lab block for me but since we already go out of town to stock up on food for the rest of the critters I just found a feed store that would out of town. Even with the price of gas it is cheaper to stock up, 50 pound bags are normally under $25. You are looking at 2-3x that just to ship it. Before that I was buying HT, 20 pounds for $35 shipped but that doesn't last long even with a small colony.

Petfooddirect sells Harlan 4018 for $26 for a 40lb bag. Of course, shipping will cost around $20.... (last time I bought, it was 18 to ship.)

Might be worth seeing if you have reptile expos near you. There is a Harlan dealer that goes to mine and sells the 40lb bags for 15 each.

Search google for tractor or farm supplies near you. Food is too heavy to make paying shipping practical.

    +1

Also search for tack & feed stores. Any authorized Purina Mills dealer should be able to order Mazuri products.

I also should warn you that for most feed stores, Mazuri is special order and will take around 2 weeks to get the shipment, so plan ahead. I get my food from a feed store and even when my shipment of Mazuri was delayed, i bought a 50 lb bag of the same kaytee pet block your using for $35 and the Mazuri will only cost me $25 for a 50 lb back. Sure to ask for 5M30 as this is the number Mazuri looks up the food with.
