Soo Excited about my new Snare!

I don't know if anyone on here plays drums, but i don't like drum forums and this is the best forum i've been to with mostly nice, intelligent people (keyword is "mostly" ).

Anyway, i saw someone on Craigslist post a Pork Pie snare up for sale and i immediately took a look. I've always wanted one and knew a guy who was sponsored by Pork Pie, so i've heard real nice kits and snares in person and by lord, they are AMAZING! This snare also happened to be in the finish that i have always wanted. Well turns out its number 13,384 and was made on July 15, 2004 and hand signed when completed. It is in a Blue Sparkle finish that i will let speak for it self. The dimensions are 12x5 and it has more pop can a 357 Magnum. Got it for a STEAL of a deal and just cleaned it up completely today with a new head, some Brasso, and a lot of elbow grease. Pics are taken with my phone so sorry if they aren't that great flash wise. Hopefully some people who don't like drums can appreciate this because Pork Pie is a Made In America product and there drums and thrones are known as one of, if not the best in the business.

Dude that's awesome! Make a video of it! What's your kit consist of and how long you been playing?

I just picked it up last year and I'm having an insanely good time with the drums! Love it!

Well theres no way i can take a video of me playing, but i can sure show you updated pictures of my kit. Also keep in mind EVERYTHING on this kit was either on sale or from Craigslist.

Also i am HUGE Rush fan and Neil Peart is my favorite drummer so of course i have too...

Re: Soo Excited about my new Snare!

Honestly the whole kit cost around the same price as a reasonably priced Piebald, so i go EVERYTHING for a steal or the person didn't know what they had. I am a huge Rush fan so of course i had to get some Roto Toms, Cowbells, and many different cymbals to accomedate for different sounds. I play everyday for at least 15 mintues, sometimes over 3 hours, but i always WANT to play and never have to force myself.

Drums are great because i can just listen to music and try to play along with it and learn new stuff as i go. I am all self taught and taught myself by playing to rush music. Of course i could never play most of the stuff he does, so i had to push myself and i still do everytime i try to play YYZ or Limelight, or whatever.

I'm not rich and i don't get any money from anyone else except myself so everything here was bought with my own money, so anyone can have a really nice kit and not spend a bunch of money. My kit might be WORTH $3000, but i payed a third of that.

Re: Soo Excited about my new Snare!

awesome kit guys. i really want to try a pork pie snare, but for now i'll settle for my 14x6" catalina maple snare with a remo black X skin. This skin is seriously LOUD. i had an ec coated reverse dot on it before, and this thing is literally twice as loud with 2x as much attack. i just haven't found the right tuning for it.

anyway heres my kit. the kit was almost brand new in shape. came with new g2 coated skins and the ec dot. after polishing the cymbals they look completely new too l no keyholes or dings. anyway i paid 1000$ for the kit that easily cost the guy 2000+ new. its a gretsch catalina maple

    old skins

new skins, love the sound i get from the toms. blake from BTBAM uses the same skins on obfuscation too (i noticed this after i got em)
