Idea for a baby snake rack
I've had a drawer with three tubs in it (used for supplies and you can't use them for a snake rack because of gaps) for quite some time and I thought of a great idea that hopefully should work.
I'm going to take out the tubs, and put cardboard or a type of board that is easy to slide tubs on without getting stuck or anything. I will nail this down into the plastic edges so there is a platform on each bottom where the tubs should be. I will place tubs in these empty spaces along with their UTHs on the bottom of the tub so no UTHs are needed to be removed from the bottom of the tubs. Of course the tubs will have lids. But, would this idea work? I'm not sure if I made myself that clear, but I tried. Any ideas? I would love to turn this drawer into a baby snake rack, I would really need it for my baby Ball pythons and for other baby snakes if I get em. And where my current baby Ball pythons are placed I would need that space for larger Ball pythons I get or for when my Ball pythons become adults. Sorry if you had a hard time visualizing what I was trying to get at.

Re: Idea for a baby snake rack
Sounds pretty good, if I am imagining it right. How many hatchlings are you planning to hold?
This is what I currently use and it is working GREAT. I bought 2 small malemine book shelves from walmart at $20 each. I built one, and kept 3 pieces from the other one, totalling 4 shelves. You could probably fit Nine 6 qt tubs using this method. I currently have One 16 qt and One 32 qt with space left for more.
EDIT: Pictures.

If I used 6 quart tubs, I could probably house 6 hatclings, having two 6 quarts in one space. I have two baby Ball pythons, and one baby Western Hognoses. I also have a yearling normal Ball python, which I plan to put in the rack as well.
When I get back to my mom's house on Tuesday I'll be sure to go to Target, I'll also look at some more supply drawers if I can't find any good bookshelves.

Added pictures so you could see what I meant. Let us know how it goes either way.

Yeah I like that rack, I think I may as well do that. I'll show pics of mine step by step most likely, since I don't post nearly as much as I used to.

This is close to what I have, without the wheels and I only have three tubs

Does this help visualize better?

Re: Idea for a baby snake rack
I have that same exact drawer for my files and office supplies. Either way will work fine.. It really just depends on what you think will look better and be easier for you.
Edit: Will you be covering the sides as well for more insulation? Just a thought.

I didn't really think of it much, but most likely I will. It will probably be a lot better on the snake because it'll give more security. Once I make the rack, I'll use the very bottom for a baby Borneo when I can get it (ssshhhh ).

Would be hard t heat one of those. Its probably not worth all the effort when you can build one for little more than what you pay for those things!

Well I made it and it works pretty well actually, and gives me a lot more space. I'll post up pics on possible Tuesday.
