What Temp was Your Snake When It Arrived?
I just got a Bumblebee from Fedex about 10 minutes ago, Its pretty cold here at 39 degrees, but not too cold. He was 65 degrees when i shot him with the temp gun, so not too bad, but still a little too cold. Luckily for him, his house was all warmed up and clean waiting his arrival, so now hes warming up.
My question is how warm/cold was your snake when you received it and how far was it being shipped? Considering this was shipped from Chicago to NC, its a pretty cold route, so he definitely could have been colder, but thank god he wasn't!

Not sure I've never temped them before..Might have to do that next time I get some in.

While it isnt ideal, 65 shouldnt pose any problems as long as he got warmed up as soon as he got to your house. Keep an eye out for mucus just in case he caught something while his immune system was down.

Steve...you got your bee. YEA!!! Congrats! Sorry he was so cold...that is a little scarey. Just be sure to watch him for an RI....though I have never received anything alive in the mail so nothing to add.
I would like to say as soon as that guy calms down and warms up.....I need pictures...

I agree that you should be fine. I shoot mine when they come in and with dbl heat packs they're usually around 75 deg but it varies a little. bps are pretty hardy but you dont want to push your luck too much.

Re: What Temp was Your Snake When It Arrived?
Well, when my little pied boy came, no thanks to a brain dead fedex lady, he was so cold he was stiff and could barely move.
I just held him in my hands, since I have very warm hands, and breathed gently on him for a little while. He slowly came around, and after about 20 minutes he seemed fine. I put him in his nice warm tub, and he did fine, not even a sign of an RI.
So, it probably depends on the individual snake, but my little guy did just fine.

We have never checked the temp of a new arrival. We will have to try it next time something comes in.

Normally it takes a few days of being cold to get a RI so I wouldn't ever worry about a snake getting one during shipping.
