Unless this is just another case of lawmakers and animal rights groups trying to push their "no animals in captivity" agenda.
we do have a pretty strick ROC requirement and venomous requirments. the problem is the media is blowing this all out of proportion. i see news stories all the time about people calling the cops out because they saw a snake on their front porch. the descriptions they give sound like racers. the media has created a panic here. our herp society does a public showing at an event called friday fest here in fort pierce. there are bands and food. we bring out animals to educate the public. the last few times i have been in charge of holding the burm that we allow people to take the pictures with. you should hear the comments people say.....its kinda sad how dumb people are getting due to the media. i have been asked if the snake would be able to eat a child several times only to reply there is no way for this snake to eat something that large. we inform the of the permitting required to own such animals but they don't want to hear it. all they know is the news tells them that the monsters on are the lose and after their children.
