    Scared ASF's

    Hey guys,

I have a group of 1.3 ASF's that have been set up for around 2 weeks now. I check on them once in the morning before work to fill water bottles, and once at night to fill food. I don't chase them around the cage or bother them really, but they seem TERRIFIED and never move or run on the wheel. They are kept downstairs, and have very little to NO traffic other than me checking on them.

What am I doing wrong? I read of other peoples animals who are vicious or energetic but mine are...well, couch potatos. They huddle together with there googly eyes watching my every move. All the while the mice are running around chasing each other and running on the wheels even when I am digging around the cage and feeding them.

Do they eventually get used to it? or are they more prone to being skittish than mice?

Sounds like you are describing normal behavior.

    Re: Scared ASF's

Yup mine act exactly the same too. They bolt and hide when i go near them or freeze in a corner.

They do Sratr to forget im there after a few minutes though and carry on but everytime i open the tubs they scram and huddle together in fear.... Maybe they know whats coming and they have clicked on that when ever i grab one it never comes back lol
