I just picked up 2 light blue hooded female dumbos and a male American Blue dumbo all breeding size. Also i found a younger female Rex blue dumbo that is probably only 5 weeks old, so i will have to wait for her. My question is what will happen if i start mixing these traits? I have a full grown Siamese dumbo male that i can mate to the girls including the blue male. Is it possible to put both males with the females and get a mix of both genes in the babies? Also is Rex a recessive trait or what does it fall under?

Yes. Don't put the males in at the same time, cycle them through a few times over your designated "breeding" period.

It is like a co-dom. A "double rex" often results in a mostly or completely hairless rat. A rex is just a curly-furred rat.

Blues, all of the varieties, or simple recessive. If you are working with the same blue gene, (aka, english vs russian) then you have a chance of getting more blues when you cross two blue parents.

If you cross the Siamese with any of the blue females, if he is not het for their blue gene, then all the babies will be black or agouti, het for blue, het for siamese.

Siamese is also recessive, need two copies, preferably on a black (not agouti) color to see it at it's best.

There are a lot of genetics you have to work with, have fun with it.

Thanks you both answered my questions perfectly and now i can really start to mess with genetics and see what cool combinations i can get. Luckily rats don't take too long to have litters!
