    Question about Glowing

How soon in the breeding season, can a female begin glowing? I've been palpating my female normal (I think I finally have it down. Felt 4-5 follicles today! And there was no mistaking them!) and she has 4-5 follicles(larger than a marble, smaller than a golf ball.). She's been paired with my pastel off and on (3 days on, 3 days off, though there have been periods longer than 3 days where they were not paired up). My first recorded pairing was 11/30 but there may have been a few pairings before then. She looks normal as far as body goes. She doesn't seem to be getting any thicker. She's on the warm side whenever I open the tub. I have not observed any bowl wrapping. She shed last week and today I went in to separate the two and I noticed she did look a little lighter than normal. Her neck area is getting brighter but I don't think I'd call it "the glow". I saw her glowing last season and she isn't even close to that but she is getting brighter. I was just wondering, how early a female can start glowing. I'm going to get a picture if I can, but the lighting will be bad due to its my camera phone. (unless by some miracle I find my camera)

    Re: Question about Glowing

My girls glow for about a week right before they ovulate.

    Re: Question about Glowing

Well I don't think she's anywhere near ovulation just yet, so maybe it was just the lighting playing tricks on me. She does seem lighter, but definitely not a glow. Not yet anyway. Thanks for the reply!

    Re: Question about Glowing

I have a couple girls who are glowing right now and have been for weeks. I guess it varies.

    Re: Question about Glowing

I have a female that has been glowing for about two weeks now and still no ovulation. Then I have others that only glow and wrap their water bowls a week or so before ovulation. They can be different one animal to the next. It is very possible that you are starting to see early changes, keep watching most likely there will be an even more drastic change over the next couple of weeks.

    Re: Question about Glowing

Well I just looked back through my old threads from last season and it looks like she began the first stages of glowing (getting a shade or two lighter) a month before ovulation. Now at that time I didn't know how to properly palpate and had no clue as to her follicle size but so far this season, I have been able to palpate with success. 4-5 follicles about as big as one of those large marbles. She's a shade or two lighter so I guess I will start looking out for "the glow" and eventually an ovulation very soon. Actually she's almost on schedule from last season. She began getting lighter in early January and was glowing by early February. She ovulated in late February and had her prelay shed in early March. (for the longest time I've been thinking it was Feb 23rd, but no, it was March 2nd. Haha. Dumb me)

Thanks for all the replies, everyone!
