Bored babies??
Two of my little guys, Vinnie and Orlando, always seem to be bored - especially Orlando, who I often find wandering & pressing his face against the tub. It's almost like when my dog needs a walk, and stares me down or misbehaves until I give in. I doubt it's stress, since I've had them 4 months with no feeding/health issues, etc... and my others are in the same exact environment, but much more calm and content.
Sooooo, do snakes (especially young ones) really get bored, or are these two just super active? If either answer is yes, do they need regular floor-time and more attention? Or is it time to put them in bigger tubs? I have them both in 12qts now, and they weigh around 350 & 450g respectively... I recently moved Julius the 650g "baby" into a 32qt, and thought maybe I'd move these guys too. Or will that just stress them out at this size? I'm getting sick of cleaning their tubs every day, since they have a tendency to splash their water about - also want to make sure they're happy. Sorry for the rambling, LOL.

Re: Bored babies??
They can still be stressed and eating normally, although at those weights they very well could be looking some ladies.

Re: Bored babies??
Hmmmmmm. They could be looking for love, especially since they're housed right next to each other & under a breeding female. I'm not ready to pair Orlando yet, since he's a het - and it would be pointless to breed him with anyone but Rosalind (female het), who's nowhere near big enough. But maybe I'll introduce Vinnie to a girl this weekend? I only have 2 breedable girls right now, and 5 potentially mature males... what a sausage fest!

Re: Bored babies??
Oh, and I really don't think they are stressed... they're pretty mellow when handled, never refuse a meal, shed perfectly, and so on. I see no other signs of stress, at least not that I'm aware of!

It could be that they just like to be active. Snickets is a big home body. She doesn't roam like Micron or Wiggles. She'll just sit there with her head poking out. The other two get all the way out of their hides and like to roam about.

I've tried, but the collar keeps slipping from their neck.

Re: Bored babies??
lol...too funny. There is always the snakey stairmaster!! Put them in the bigger enclosure and see how they do. Lately Elizabeth has not wanted to go back in her cage after being out an hour or more. She just thinks she is a person and wants to be out all the time.

Re: Bored babies??
One of my corns has taken to poking her nose out from between the layers of paper and peeking from the corner of her cage. It's kind of funny seeing her looking out. When I first got her, I could tell she'd been in a tub cause she would bash up against the sides of the glass so I draped a towel over her cage to give her some security. Another reason why it's so cute seeing her poke her nose out.
