Shed question
I got my BP Brutis the last weekend in Nov 09. I forgot to ask when his last shed was but I think it was recent. He has not shed since we got him should I be worried.
His temps are good, humidity at 55%, plenty of water, he has been eating with no issues.....
How often do they shed?? I though is was often when they were little...

Re: Shed question
depends on how fast they are growing. You have only had him a week so give it time. You will notice that their eyes go blue for a day or two. Then they look dull ....then right before they shed they seem to go back to looking normal. Then boom...it happens.
I would boost your humidity up when you notice this. Not sure what you have him in but if it is a viv it is sometimes hard to keep up the humidity.
There are a ton of things you can do. Put in a humid hide, foil the screen top, put a wet towel over the top and spray it down.
Hope this helps.
Ohhhhh also...sometimes when they are in shed...they do not like to be touched. It could be uncomfortable for them. Someone put it to me like this....think of a sunburn. Also when their eyes go blue they cannot see very well. Keep that in mind when handling or feeding.

Re: Shed question
They shed about every month. Sometimes more, sometimes less. It is really nothing to worry about. If your snake hadn't shed in 6 months and was an '09, then I would worry.

Re: Shed question
What are you feeding him? If the prey size is too small then he will not grow which means he will not shed! Make sure the width of the prey is the same or slightly larger the largest width of the snake! Also how are you measuring temps and humidity? You need a digital thermostat/hygrometer for proper readings.
