I don't care if people read what I typed. I was worried about the ones who I thought would see "personal slur" when clicking on my name. Until you just told everyone - no one other than staff would see the reason for your infraction. Not on your profile, not anywhere. All they see is that you have 1 infraction worth 5 points - a very mild infraction compared to disrespect to staff or disrespect to site, which carries a hefty 50 points. And I daresay most people don't pay that much attention to the little numbers to the left to see how many points people have. I rarely look at them myself. It's not the scarlet letter you seem to believe that it is.
As Derek has already explained - there is an appeals process for infractions, they were covered in the TOS that you agreed to when you joined the site. The infraction system is explained in a sticky in Site Info.
There are several well respected members on this site who carry infractions, there are staff members that have earned infractions in their early days here before they became staff. An infraction hardly makes you a bad guy. In the big scheme of things going on in this world, has a five point infraction really ruined your day that much?
If you'd like to appeal it, follow the process that Derek outlined and the staff TEAM will review.
Review process? I have almost as many animals to care for as there are minutes in a day...wasting more time on this isn't even an option.
As long as that "personal slur" thing isn't next to my name, we're good.
