    Proven Male?

I purchased a male pied from a known breeder that was a proven breeder last year. This year I have put him in with several girls and he hides in the back of the tub. I have probed him and is a male. He isn't throwing any sperm plugs. Do you think he will come around and start breeding? Should I maybe put him in with another male to combat?
