    question about Sterlings

    You get them from a pewterXpastel breeding correct? so that makes them super pastel cinnamons correct? does that mean you can also breed a super pastel to a cinnamon to get sterlings or does it not work like that? Dont make fun of me now. im pretty darn stupid when it comes to this breeding stuff. im just trying to learn lol

    Re: question about Sterlings

    Hi,

    No you can only get a superpastel if both parents have the pastel gene to pass down.

    But if you bred a superpastel to a cinamon you would get;

    50% pastels
    50% pewters

    If you think of the genes as coming in pairs and each parent can only pass down one of the pair it has it makes it a little bit easier.

    So a pastel can either pass down a pastel gene or a normal gene from the pair it has but a superpastel can only pass down one of the two pastel genes it has.

    a super pastel has two copies of the pastel gene. The super pastel only passes ONE copy to the offspring, making any offspring sired by the super pastel, pastels themselves. You cannot get a super pastel by breeding a super pastel to anything without a pastel gene.

    The difference between say a super pastel and a pewter is that the pewter has ONE copy of the pastel gene and ONE copy of the cinnamon gene and can therefor have the possibility of passing both, one or no copies down to the offspring.

    If you do a punnet square it will show you this
