    Hovabator

has anyone used the Hovabator Genesis incubator. I use this for my chickens. I know it can be used for snakes, but is it good?

    Re: Hovabator

i used mine and had 100% hatch rate( and I moved them into it once it shipped it took me about 2 weeks to get the temp set right but compare to the 10 gal tank I was using before I was lucky not to lose the entire lot of them. I got mine currently sitting waiting to se the signd of my girl gravid fo sure ( she been darker than normal sunce I started pairing her with the male het pied)

Only thing i did different was placed the waffle peice on a thermostat and sat a heating pad on low under the entire unit ( to help keep the humidity highre since the water would evaporate this way from the bottom and not from the eggs.

    Re: Hovabator

I used a hovabator last year and got 100% hatch rate. It wasn't like the one you posted. I have the cheap one that's on LLL reptiles. I didn't even have to use a thermostat (tho would recommend using one). The temps fluctuated a good bit, but nothing crazy. And when it got a little too hot, I would just open the top of the bator and let it go back down to the temp I had it setup. Only down side of this incubator is you can only fit at most 2 clutches. And NO you can not put the bp eggs like chicken eggs. You must set them up in a tub with vermiculite/perlite and do the water ratio. Or you can use hatch rite (ima be using hatch rite this year for my incubating). And if you expecting more than 2 clutches, I would recommend building or buying a bigger incubator.
