Re: Food options for a Black Throat
I would not recommend the San Diego diet, the is to much room for error for new keepers. It is best to stick with whole prey items.(rodents, fish, sea food and insects)

yes with new keepers there is room for error but with the right person taking care of the monitor you have nothing to worry about. I have around 5 years or so behind my belt with the monitors so i never had a problem with it. And like i said i fed mine mainly insects and 2 mice a week with one day of the san diego zoo diet. Always had great success it.

Rats, mice, baby chickens, ground chicken/turky,eggs still in the shell fresh or hard boild, shrimp,
Most important thing is give your monitor the propper temps in his basking spot or he wont be able to digest any of his food.
They also like to burrow. Make his substrate deep enough so he can dig.
