Color change?
Getting the Borneo girl to soak is a very easy process. I simply put a pan of water in the tub and in she goes. Taking the pan of water back out is another story. I need to remove the pan of water because over time the humidity goes through the roof. So after about 2 hours of soaking I open the tub to take the pan out and she looks like a different snake. I am floored, her head is not tan it is yellow. I had to ask her, who are you and what did you do with my snake? LOL. So is this something that they do (the color change) or is it because she was not feeling well.

Re: Color change?
Well I don't have a borneo but I'm sure like all snakes that top layer of skin get more translucent and this could account for the color change. I'm not sure I would soak for two hours. I usually soak my snakes about an hour

Re: Color change?
Bloods and Short Tails change their head colors as quickly as a few hours. I mainly see mine overnight.
My Bloods head colors go from a nice silver color to a dark jet black color!
I haven't noticed much head color change in my Ghosts though.
No one really knows why it happens, though I speculate it has something to do with trying to absorb more heat by darkening their heads and vice versa.
How warm was the water you put in for her?
86 is about as hot as you want to get it....

Re: Color change?
I was careful of the temp. It was about 84 degrees. So you think it is a response to temperature?

Re: Color change?
I would suspect that, yes.
Though again, no one really knows WHY they do it exactly. The temperature thing is just my most educated guess that is theorized from my personal observations.
Neat isn't it?

These are truly amazing and beautiful animals. I am defiantly going to keep a closer eye on the color change thing.

Re: Color change?
Just thought I'd add that with our Sumatran's here, I've actually watched the color change on their heads in a matter of minutes, not hours. I don't even know how many times I've opened the tub to see my male chromehead almost bone white, rushed to get the camera set up to take some pictures, and by the time I actually get to the point of taking a picture his head is a dirty brown.

Re: Color change?
That is really cool. I was surprised at how much my suriname boa's change colors until I saw my Borneo going into shed. Her entire body is pink now. Has been for a couple days. Her head is a light tan/pink. I didnt think they could get so bright.
