If you keep looking you will start too...Theres lots of morphs that aren't visual, there are also balls that are carrying genes for other traits, called hets. These will produce some visual morphs but they themselves may look "normal"

Can you get more specific? Some morphs can be mistaken for normals, especially if they're not top-quality animals... a few examples would be the enchi, yellowbelly, woma, vanilla & sable. I'm no expert myself, so I have mistaken (individuals of) these morphs for normals before. But there are subtle differences if you look closely, even with the poorer quality snakes.

Oh, and I guess what distinguishes them from a pretty/unusual normal is how they pass along the genes... because if it's just a nice looking norm, their offspring probably won't show the traits.

Re: why cant i see the difference?

i guess im wondering why they are worth more if you have to look so closely to see a difference. is it just for breading to get to a noticeable difference? cause if so i cant see paying for something that is only apparent in its genome if its just a pet...

    Hi,

Well it depends on what they can make in term of combo's as well remember.

There are still some morphs I just can't seem to "get my eye in" with. But the super forms or combo's would still make me consider them as future purchases.

It's likely that one wouldn't buy a subtle morph to keep as just a pet. Yellow bellies look like normals to those who are new to ball pythons, but bred together, they produce an ivory. There are very subtle examples of YB's and then there are extreme examples.

I personally love the subtle morphs, but I also love a beautiful normal!

Try going to a few shows. It's hard when you are new, the pics you see on your computer are not going to be as good as in person
