Needless to say, I left work agitated tonight.. Check this out..

One of the guys that works nights and relieves me on certain days comes in tonight and he just knows this information he has is fact.

He is an older man who seems to have enough common sense but in this case there was only heresay. He tells me he saw reports online just a couple months ago about how they put a big "bounty" out for killing these wild "boas" that are all over the south.. He is positive that these snakes are all over the southern states... After all, he saw it online...

Not just florida mind you.. He tells me he saw where a "boa" ate some farmers turky and died. Then he brings up the picture of the snake with the aligator bursting from its side. How these snakes can adapt and migrate etc etc.. He says he's not talking about the burmese pythons in florida. He's talking about some other snake that has invaded all the southern states and is killing livestock etc..

I ended up staying at work 20 minutes after i clocked out. I was trying to explain to this guy the facts from the fiction. Explaining how HSUS compiled some crazy reports about "possible" migrations into southern states with no scientific or herpetologic proof. Finding reports online for him to read. Trying to explain about Dave & Tracy Barker's experiment years ago which proved these constrictors cannot hibernate. They cannot disquinguish between warm and dangerously cold weather. They do not have the instinct or ability to seek out shelter and warmth etc..

Point is. This man is absolutely positive that there is some sort of big dangerous snakes taking over the southern states..

The general public can take one or two things they see online or TV and twist it around. Contort it. Turn it into a completely obsurd "fact" in their own mind and then pass it on as fact.. This is the most frustrating thing EVER! What happened to common sense??
