Has anyone replaced a car side mirror before?

So my friend was parking my car in the garage and busted my passenger side mirror on my 2007 impala LS.

I need to get it fixed and am thinking it might be quite easy to replace it myself, and I might save a hundred bucks or more by not taking it to a shop.

Does anyone have any advice? I've looked on google and there are plenty of places that seem to sell mirrors that would work, but I don't have much experience to know that if I throw down $50-80 on a mirror if it will actually work.

I'm not a mechanic so I haven't worked on all the cars out there but from my experience there should be a triangle piece of moulding inside the car that once removed you can access the bolts to remove it. If it's electric or has built in defrost there may be some extra steps. Depending on the car too their may be fan forums like this one that have a lot of good information too.

    Take the door panel off.

Unplug the mirror if it's electric

Take the 3 screws off that hold the mirror in place through the door panel.

    Replace and reverse.

    Honestly, it's a cake walk.

My hubby works on our cars and is a mod freak!!! Like the other poster stated...it is pretty easy once you get to it. You can also do a search on DIY thread for that paticular car and it will tell you how to do it. I watch him do all this and it never ceases to amaze me how easy it all is.
