boaphile makes a fine rack. I've had the chance to work with some snakes kept in one firsthand, though never owned one personally. Their RhinoRaXX really are quite nice.
1) Heat tape is a popular heating method and works very well. There have been some people who have had incidents with it, but no one I know personally. The first hand reports I have read seem to all have been due to thermostat malfunctions. Flexwatt is a great product and I currently use it.
2) There is nothing about the boaphile racks that are any more "escapable" than just about any other lidless rack system with tubs that fit nice and tight with very little space between the rack ceiling and top of the tub. I'd call them escape-proof, as I have never heard of anyone I know of with boaphile racks (or any other similarly professional-grade rack product) having an escapee.
3) can't help you here
4) light the room, the tubs aren't opaque and light filters in. BPs are nocturnal anyways, so as long as they have enough light to "know" it is daytime, that's good. They certainly don't need a bright fluorescent light shining in their faces 12 hours a day, they don't like it and will obviously retreat to hides![]()
