How to find a good terrarium?
Ughhh... I'm having a really hard time locating a bigger terrarium for my little guy!
He's currently in a 10 gallon tall tank, and while it's doable it definitely needs to be bigger IMO. I'd like to preferably get a 20 gallon long as I feel 30x13.5x12 would be a good size for him.
The only problem is, I can't find any! I can't find them online on sites like petland/petco/amazon, and the few ones I do find aren't the right size or are way too expensive.
I've found one at this site for a reasonable price, $33, but the shipping is an additional $36 and I would have to meet the truck (they won't deliver it ground because it's glass). Is this the best I am going to do?
Google isn't really helping me very much.... is there some secret snake ordering shop I don't know about??

Try craigslist. If they don't have any in your area, check your local big box pet store. They usually have 20g longs in stock since they are one of the most commonly used reptile enclosures.

You could try herpcages.com. We have one of the 24 x 12 x 12's for a hatchling and it has been a great enclosure. It was only a few dollars more than a glass tank and has worked out wonderfully. It holds temps and humidity very well. She just had her first shed with us and there were no problems at all.

Or if it's a Ball, forget the whole aquarium idea and if cost is an issue, go with something like a large plastic tub/lid. Uth. They hold humidity and warmth better.

If your handy with tools you can get sheets of plexiglass or acrylic and make your own tank to fit him. Which will actually help hold heat better than glass.

acrylic holds heat better? Maybe I'll go that route then...

Some of the larger Walmarts sell aquariums. Look up pet stores online in your area.
Good luck!

Re: How to find a good terrarium?
I just got a complete setup with a 20 gallon long tank at Petland. I didn't see any online or in the store so I asked a rep in the store and he directed me to where they had them. They had them not just as a complete setup but also stand alone. I had to ask them because they had them in an odd place on the floor. Now I used to work in a locally owned pet store and we kept alot of stock in the back and if a rep in a store (yes even at Walmart) tells you they don't keep stock in the back they are usually being lazy and don't want to go through the trouble. I know this because I've worked in and around these places. Also we would special order aquaruims and other items and usually at no extra cost to the customer. All you have to do is ask. If you do have to ask though, the best person to ask is always the Manager! Hope this helps.

You won't find much for glass tanks online. They break too easily in shipping to make it worthwhile. The exo-terra and zoo-meds ship well because they come in a box, but other tanks don't. As such, not many websites sell them.
I think LLLReptile offers some screen top tanks...they have really good prices too.
