Re: My Incubator all set up and full of tubs
Does the water in the bottles help keep humidity up or something? What is the heating in that setup?

Thanks Guys! And as Shadera stated the water bottles help keep the temps stable when the water warms inside the bottles it helps hold heat steady when opening it up and to just keep the temps pretty even through out. As for the heat element. It is just a normal everyday space heater for like under an office desk or small room. It cost me 15 bucks at walmart. There are some temp flucuations between shelves but not too much the middle shelf reads about 89.4 and the top shelf 89.2 but the bottm shelf has the higher temp cause of it being so close tot he heater it reads about 90.8.

That was lucky. I have been searching for a glass door fridge like that,

Same, I can't seem to find something like that on craigslist. Only small wine coolers or freezers. Great incubators though, both of you!

Word of advice, speaking form experience those mini space heaters need oxygen to a certain level or they will either malfunction and not shut off or they shut off till the oxygen level regains well. I had one for the QT room while back and woke up to it off and room in the low 70s. I would highly suggest Flexwatt and some fans inside to circulate the heat.

Re: My Incubator all set up and full of tubs
Are you just using the heaters temp controls to set your temp? I know a few others that do that and have fine results with it, but I think you are crazy to trust a $15 heater with your eggs. I personally would just spend the little cash on a few feet of flexwatt and feel safe. If you want to save a bit of cash and are only going to be incubating BP eggs you could probably get away with using a good quality on/off type t-stat instead of a helix or herpstat since the freezer is so well insulated. Good luck either way.
