How things change

It is amazing how things change from when you were a little kid. When I was little, snow meant days off from school, snowmen, snowball fights, building igloos, and hot chocolate. Today I realized just how much winter weather has changed for me. Last night we got a ton of snow (for Va at least). 9 inches and we are expecting a few more inches by tonight. Well I almost put us in a ditch last night because the roads were so slick. We had to dig the cars out this morning so my husband could make it to work across town. Since we are getting more snow, and the roads are slick, his work is putting them up in a hotel for the night. I have to drive the little saturn to work. I'm hoping I can make it out of the parking lot here at home. Its all snow, ice, and slush. We dug the saturn out and now its already covered in more ice. And right around the time I go to work is the time it is supposed to start snowing again. Yipee!

So anyone else on the east cost got any of this snow? Fun, isn't it.

Yup yup! I'm a western north carolinian and we got around 8-9 inches, expecting some flurries throughout the night. 2 snowmen + a sled + a giant snowball + a bunch of little snowballs + my dad= FUN!

We got 4 or 5 inches once when I was little..still the most snow I've ever seen lol

It snowed like crazy here in Pennsylvania. We have 20 inches of snow on the ground. I haven't even been out to shovel yet because it just keeps coming down. I am not looking forward to tomorrow with all the shoveling but it has to be done. My car is buried. I will be shoveling out my elderly neighbor's car tomorrow as well. Fun, fun, fun.

I'm in Maryland and we're looking at somewhere around 20 inches. I've shoveled the front and back 4 times wach today. I'll shpvel from the walk to the cars tomorrow. Clean the cars, shovel out to the street and wait for the plows to come by and run past my house leaving a nice little 18 inch high ridge of ice in front of my house. Only for me to shovel it out again. Then waiting another 4 hours only to have another ridge to dig out. This will continue all day. Some may ask, Why not just leave it there? Well, if I do, I will have a sollide ice ridge about 2 feet high to deal with either tomorrow evening or Monday morning.

All of this wouldn't be bad, but I'm still recouping from open heart surgery (5 bypasses). But I'm doing well, I'm really surprised how well I did today.

Yea, we had to shovel out a walkway to the cars, dig out both cars and get the snow/ice off them, and then I had to dig the saturn out again. Finally when it was time to go to work (I left early) I was waiting for the saturn to warm up and a guy across the street was trying to get into the parking lot into the other set of townhouses, and got stuck in a bunch of snow. He had no shovel and was trying to push the van over the snow. I got my other shovel and went over and we dug out his van.

What really ticks me off is work. I had to be there at 7 and well over half (almost 3/4) of the people working today called out. So not only did we risk our lives coming to work, but they are not paying us extra, didn't offer us food, and we had double/triple the work because so many people called out. I just got home. I am so jealous of my husband. He gets paid double for coming in, is getting put in a hotel for the night, and getting paid for it, and they are providing food. So jealous!

We only have a little snow for now .Yea being a kid and thinking snow was fun is gone forever .Now i hate the stuff .

Im in Nebraska and we still have over a foot of snow on the ground with drifts several feet deep. I took my 4 year old off roading and got my truck stuck. For some reason my 4wd wouldn't work half way through the field. Cost me 100 bucks to have it wenched out. After i was pulled out i tested my 4wd and it worked fine. Maybe i should take my truck in and have it looked at.
I hate the snow by the way.
