    Wandering

My Pastel Ball python, Cookie, has been wandering around her enclosure a lot lately. Her husbandry is spot on and has never changed from the first day I got her. She is definitely not hungry--I offer her one live mouse hopper weekly and it's exactly the same size as the middle part of her body. I actually did upgrade her hide size (gave her the Spider BP's hide which was too big for him and Cookie is a bit larger than him) but she was even wandering before the hide upgrade. I could try feeding her a live or F/T rat pup next week if that would help since my Spider is already eating rat pups and he's a bit smaller than Cookie is.

Sounds like she's hungry and looking for food.

Sounds like you have some 09s only a couple months old? You could offer them food every 5 days or possibly more often couldn't you? Seems like most offer their BPs food every 5 days till they are several hundred grams or pushing 1000+. My pastels are 175-220 grams and eating 20-22 gram rat pups every 3 days. My female still puts her head out of the hide or reasting on the hide aleart and seeming to be ready to feed the day after feeding. Makes me wonder hoe much she would put down.

I feed all of my snakes once a week and doing it this way I feel that they won't get overweight but maintain a healthy weight. I've always fed hatchlings once a week and they seem to stay a pretty good weight

    Re: Wandering

Feed every 3-5 days if you can afford it and you will notice the roaming will stop.

All hatchlings here are fed every 3 days till thier 400 grams then moved to 5 days and then so on.
