    VERY Useful Invention idea!!

Well, im building a rack tomorrow (adult 41 qt rack), and i have to melt ventilation holes on the sides of the tubs... And man does that take long!... BUT! I thought of an amazing idea that would be very useful (among the reptile community that is..), and that idea is to make a soldering iron basically, but instead of just having that one tip, there would be a bar type of thing with many tips on it (about 10), that all heated up and this allowed you to melt several ventilation holes at once instead of one at a time... Let me know what you think... Maybe its already invented? Im not sure...

It may have some use outside of the reptile community. I can't imagine we're the only ones who ever need to poke holes in plastic but I can't think of any specific situations. I would definately buy one. I'm too lazy to mark out holes but this way they would be straight without drawing a line.

Big Gunns is on his way to the patent office to steal your idea right now.

Actually BG has thought of the same thing, but don't worry, he's not worried about making one. After poking millions of holes(no pun intended), BG would love to see one of these things.

    Re: VERY Useful Invention idea!!

Great idea. I know I've spent hours poking holes in tubs with a single soldering iron.

Except, you can really only use it to make holes in tubs, and if you have a tub that's the wrong size you might not be able to use it. Plus, having a single is more versatile, say if you just needed a couple more holes.

It would be cool if you could somehow make a soldering iron with an extension on it, so that if you need to make individual holes you could do that too. It'd need a locking mechanism of course, so the extension part can't fall on your foot while you're soldering. But then I don't know how soldering irons work and how they transfer heat into the metal.

Another idea, it would be great to be able to adjust the number of prongs.
