Question Het Red Axanthics vs Axanthics

I read "Hunter's Guide To The Morphs" but i'm still a lil confused about the Axanthics, are they the same snake? Or are there slight differences? Thank you in advance

    Cheers

They are two completely different Morphs!!!

Het Red Axanthics are Co-Dom and the Red Axanthic is the Super form.

    Axanthics are Simple Recessive.

    Het Red Axanthic

    VPI Axanthic.

Sorry I don't have a Red Axanthic for comparison...You can Google a pic though.

Axanthic is just a term used to describe an animal that is lacking Xanthic pigments which cause yellow color. Snakes that are lacking or at least have a greatly reduced amount of yellow coloring are said to be Axanthic.

There are many different mutations that will acheive this look. Most of them have nothing in common with each other except for the end result. In order to produce an axanthic looking snake both parents must be at least heterozygous for the same axanthic mutation.

Red axanthic is a codominant mutation where the heterozygous carriers of the gene have a specific non-normal look to them. Other forms of Axanthic such as VPI Axanthic are recessive so the heterozygous carriers of the gene don't look any different then a normal wild type ball python.

    Pastel red axanthics are amazing
The axanthic eliminates yellow colouring, not sure what the red does though

Re: Het Red Axanthics vs Axanthics

I picked up a pair of het reds from John a few months back. I can tell you that they are a highly underestimated morph. Pictures really don't do them much justice. I can't wait to start my breeding projects with them.
