    shedding question

so my snake has been going through the shedding process for over a week now. i realized she was shedding when her color started to dull and her eyes cloudy and what not... now her skin is very slouchy for like 6 days now. it looks like it shud be falling off anytime now but its not. its fraying in certain spots and starting to flake but she doesnt seem to try to rub it off yet.

So my question is how long does this process take or should i not worry and let nature take its course?

p.s i did raise the humidity to 70 % during her shedding process.

    Re: shedding question

Are you sure that your humidity is at 70%. A digital humidity reader will give you a better and more accurate reading of the humidity.

Sounds like your snake is having a bad shed. After they turn cloudy they turn clear and look normal again. A few days later they should shed their skin in one big piece.

I would suggest maybe making a humid hide for her and giving her a soak. I prefer soaking my snakes in an inch of room temperature water with a washcloth in the tub with them so they have something to rub on.

    Re: shedding question

yeah I'm going to say maybe you raised the humidity too late? I've noticed sometimes I don't catch all my snakes when they begin the process and start misting the enclosure like 2 days before they can still have a hard time. Not sure if this is your case, but humidity is key. When I do catch them going into shed I mist everyday not nessacarely bumping to exactly 70%, because I know how a tub holds humidity so I don't need a hygrometer. Don't be afraid to go over 70% either, not a big deal. Also, if you are using an aquarium your going to have to mist a lot because they don't hold humidity well.

    Re: shedding question

so this might sound dumb, but she hasnt shed at all yet her skin is just slouchy. its fraying a little but not even chunks are coming off yet. soo its like she is just slouchy but not trying to get it to come off yet. am i just being impatient and need to wait a few more days?

    Hi,

A picture would help us be sure but it sounds like it is now a retained shed.

Have a look at the bad shed sticky and see if that answers any questions.
