How long does it take to shed?
My first BP is (estimately) a few months old. I bought him back in September and he has yet to shed. How long does it usually take for BPs to shed?

If fed regularly they usually shed about once a month. However, there is no set time period. If yours hasn't shed since September, it does seem like you haven't been feeding it all that much. The more you feed them, the faster they grow....and shed.

My snakes are averaging a shed every 5 or 6 weeks almost like clockwork. OBV it should slow down the older they get, some of my adults are like 3-4 times a year

is it normal if my 4 month ld BP is very strikey if shes about to shed? she tried to strike at me today so i just put her back in her enclosure im guessing thats what it is. She even tried to strike at me in her enclosure, she hit the glass pretty hard.

Re: How long does it take to shed?
Hi,
I think its prety normal for them to be more nervous when shedding as their senses are less sharp in terms of vision and probably heat tracking.
Mine really do prefer to be left alone during the process. Grumpy so-and-so's.
And since hatchlings are still more prey than predator in their own minds I wouldn't worry about it too much.

It took mine 6 weeks from the day we bought him to shed, roughly. There's not really anything you can do to force a shed, it's pretty much on the snake's own time. How often do you feed, and how large is the prey?

Yes -- snakes can't see well during shed because their eye caps begin to separate and block vision, and their sense of touch is heightened because of the sloughing skin. If you leave them alone it ends without much distress, but handling a shedding or about-to-shed BP must be pretty uncomfortable and stressful for the snake. This goes double for young BPs, because they are so small and nervous anyway.

Re: How long does it take to shed?
Well the first five weeks he wouldn't eat... anything. Then I started feeding him pinkies once a week, then I started feeding him fuzzies every 5 or 6 days, and right now he's getting a hopper every 4 days. I guess I should just be patient and he'll shed when he's ready. I was just concerned because its been 3 months now and he still hasn't shed.
