Re: Pretty stoked about these pairs!!

Congrats on the great season so far guys. I do have 2 questions for you though. Is this the first year you guys have ultrasounded, or did you do it last year as well? Secondly, how do you know that you have 13 girls that will ovulate in the next 2 months?

I only ask the second question, because I have seen follicles stall before, sometimes as long as three months, and sometimes they can grow as fast as 6mm per week. I was curious as to what follicle sizes you are seeing, what kind of growth rate you have been experiencing, and how many copulations have you witnessed with those females?

    Congrats and good luck guys,

    Congrats and good luck guys,
Thanks Tim! We did use an Ultrasound last season, it helped a lot. Well the only reason we know that they will ovulate in the next two months is only from what we observed last season, every female last season that had 10+mm follicles layed, they all grew at about the same pace. We figure they grow o.5 mm everyday, again we went off of what happended last season. So far this season it is about the same some of them take a little longer to grow but not to much longer. We only had one female reasorb her follicles last season and that was mainly because all of our males were being lazy and wouldnt breed. Most of the females that have follicles right now have been with a male at least two times, some of them it has been up to four times. We have been breeding everyone since October so thats probably why everything is happening so early for us. Right now the females that we think will ovulate in the next two months have follicles bigger than 25mm.
Hopefully I answered all the questions. Everything might be different for others but that is what we observed from our first year of using an Ultrasound.
    Thanks again!

Sounds good. I thought that your information might be good for others. I pretty much already knew the answers. From what we have seen in the past 4 years, females tend to grow between 4 and 6mm a month. As far as the 25 mm girls, you are right on track, but I had a girl sit at 30mm for 3 months and then finally decided to ovulate when I put in a girl that was getting ready to ovulate. I guess that spurred her into action. Wouldn't you know the stubborn one was our DH True Ghost. It's always the important females that give you headaches.

p.s. I hope you guys do well with the Champagnes, as I will probably be shopping in the future.

    Good luck this year guys,

Dont you hate it when the girls you want to lay really bad take forever or they dont lay! Did you end up getting eggs from your DH?
We should do pretty good on Champagnes this season, thank god hes finally breeding! We will let you know when the first ones start hatching, though we will probably post them on here!
    Thanks again!
