    Shedding Problem

hey this is my first ever post here so im kinda trying something. well my ball python shed about 2 weeks ago in little pieces of skin at a time and it was all over the cage. i heard somewhere that the snake sheds in one big time means hes healthy and if he sheds in pieces of skin that he's unhealthy. im kinda worried because ive had him for 3 months and he only shed once.. is that normal or should i be expecting more sheds?

    Re: Shedding Problem

If the shed doesn't come off in one piece, it usually means that the humidity is too low in the enclosure. Please post as many details as possible about his home -- temps, humidity, hiding spots, substrate, etc. This will allow people to offer you advice on how to improve conditions.
Would you breed a wobbler dog even though it had a cool coat?

    Re: Shedding Problem

!!! You have come to the right place for everything you need to know about ball pythons!

A bad shed is caused by low humidity. It is only life threatening if the skin is retained for long periods of time.

There is a stick in the husbandry section I believe that has step by step instructions on how to remove stuck shed.

So, having stuck shed doesn't mean that the snake is unhealthy, it means that your husbandry isn't correct.

If you post the details of your setup we can help you figure out how to fix the humidity and any other possible things that could use improvement.
