Dangers with breeding - snake fight???

Never had a Ball do this, but I had a 6-7 ft female Dumerils Boa that I had problems getting to breed. I probed her and had her confirmed as a female by another breeder, but she would attack any male put into her enclosure. If I put her into the male's enclosure she was fine. I think she was the most territorial snake I've ever seen.

I've had to pick teeth out of the male snake twice before I figured out what her problem was.

This happens a lot with Dumerils boas. It's the main reason you don't see any albino Colombians crossed with a Dumeril boa. Dumerils will eat other boas. Big Gunns knows a couple people that have tried only to wake up to nice and fat female Dumeril, and no Colombian albino in the cage.


It's rare that Balls will fight Taylor, but it does happen. Most of the time it's two males, but you can occasionally have a male and female fight.
