The prey item should be as big around as the widest part of the snake. A photo would probably tell us more than a description. If you think rat pups are too small, move up to the next size rat. (Usually the progression is the following: Pinky, fuzzy, crawler, hopper, small, medium, large). Crawlers are sometimes called pup rats, but I have heard fuzzies referred to that way as well. Fuzzies have their eyes still shut, and crawlers have their eyes open, but aren't very coordinated on their feet yet.

You didn't mention a water bowl. Does the snake use it's waterbowl? If it's dehydrated, they can look a bit skinny. Set him in a tub or sink with luke warm water and let him have a good soak.

    Hope This Helps!

On my computer; Try inserting the card and then manually open up "My Computer" it should be on the desktop menu or the start menu. Then look for the memory card section and then open it and it should show the pics. If it does, Copy the pics by dragging them to your desktop screen and then if all that works, Just move it to the file you want it in and then post them

I would not go back to mice that would be a huge step backward. Pups should be about the same size as an adult mouse. If you have to go bigger a small weiner rat would be the next size rat... but @ 15 inches I cant see it being under fed with a pup every 5 days
