They are cool to watch, but if you want to see a sloppy pig eating their prey, watch a Dumerils Boa eat. When I bred for a living, I had one 6-7 foot female that would start striking at the plexiglas as soon as I walked into the snakeroom, and would absolutely pound on the glass until I was able to slowly open the door, just enough to get a hook on her). Then it was fun trying to get the Large Rat into the enclosure without having 1/4 inch teeth embedded into my hands and forearms. Then she was so violent constructing a dead rat. She would then eat the snake in record time.
BTW, it's cool you child is interested in your snakes. Way to go.
