You think you ordered, snake, you, rodent. But you really prioritized, you. You took a step backward for your snakes and are actively causing the rodents unnecessary suffering. Now I understand that you are worried about your snake getting bitten. Guess what F/T rodents don't bite, live ones due, and smashing their faces is just not a valid option unless your goal is to be cruel and inhuman. Your actions are a slap in the face to anyone that respects life or has struggled with needing to switch to live for a picky snake.
You smashed the rodents feet, THEIR FEET! Your snake comes out of the egg armored with scales to protect against appropriate sized prey scratches.
I couldn't even read the first page of posts. That just wrong. Shame on you. Learn how to prekill, feed F/T or take your chances with live. Stop torturing rodents.
aggresion aggresion aggresion, what you said was said by me with a more easy maner and by many others in the last 13 pages, what was the point of repeating all aggresivly? -_- polluting the data streams with unesserary data lol

I am glad you asked. Because I consider what the OP did to be gruesome. What you are reading as aggression is in reality outrage. They are similar but different. I hold no ill will toward the OP or anyone for that matter. The point is that many pages of people go to respond with their outrage. My outrage is no less valid having come late in the game. When the site admins feel that the thread has played out they will lock it. Thank you Darksmoke for being more diplomatic, that was not my intent. As for polluting the data stream. Nonsense, everyone knows that all data has worth. Its a rare thing to hear a scientist say "If only we had less data to work with."

I don't know how you did that, OP
I would have had a hard time doing that to the rodent.... I can't understand people who can be so callous when it comes to causing pain to others.

A mother can't abuse her children just because they are hers. People can't abuse their dogs just because they are theirs. You can't look away from someone not properly caring for what the have assumed responsibility of.
(but at the same time you can't kick and scream about it. All we can give is input. Someone of you get a little too angry IMO)
Working at a petshop I can NOT stress enough how much I wish people would do some research before jumping into something. Between buying a new animal or breeding their current animal out of good health.
Not at all saying the OP was abusing anything btw.. speaking in generalities here.
Haterisim ahahaha... Wow this thread bekame the new hotness

Yikes, why torture the poor rodents when you can instantly kill them with a single whack?

You can do what you want to do with morals.
That's like also saying that it's up to you if you want to abuse animals or not. Sure it is, but you will have repercussions.
P.S. I said this once, and I will say it again. Please learn how to type somewhat in proper English. (At least spell out words properly, the grammar is not as important.) You will not be as overlooked and ignored, as well as you will be taken more seriously by members here.
CM, I'm glad that you're sorry about the whole ordeal and learned something out of this. We know that you were just trying to do the best thing and act fast in the scariest of situations.

^ This. When I read the original post I was completely appalled. I love all animals, not just herps, and hearing about rats being tortured just because someone wanted the thrill of watching their snake tackle live (crippled) prey is horrible to me.
Rats and mice are fairly intelligent mammals (that's why they're used in cognitive laboratory work) and you can rest assured that these died in a great deal of pain and terror.
That's just not cool.

^ I'm glad for this too. Chocolate, I hope you go back to feeding frozen/thawed. It's much safer for your snakes, and much more humane for the feeder animals as well. Commercially prepared frozen rodents are killed painlessly by CO2 euthanasia, which is the most humane way in my opinion.
As an animal welfare activist, I wish all snake owners would feed frozen/thawed, for the sake of all the animals involved...

I specifically said no offense and that i was speaking in generalities. Might make sense to you, but it makes none to me.

Re: It seemed so wrong, but felt so right...
[QUOTE=MasonC2K;1218704]So I skipped most of the pages becasue I sense a lot of drama.
Anyways, as a direct reply to the OP...
You don't have to worry about your snakes being scratched. Those little nails are not going to go through snake skin. Getting bitten is a real danger though. But instead of "crushing" the face, which I am not sure if that's what you meant. I imagine an imploded face with broken bones and and bloody mess. If you feel the snake might get bitten, just use the tongs to hold the face a way or as just a barrier.
X2... I feed my Ball Live also....
