I am currently using indor/outdoor carpet from Lowe's and I am really happy with it. I am using the soft kind not the green shaggy stuff. It is cheap and a breeze to clean. It is soft to the touch so I figure it is soft for my ball python.

I got the minimum length (can't remember the exact dimensions) and there was enough to cut four pieces for her tank. In all it cost me around $5.
