    Need some advice

I have two het pieds I have been putting together (3 days on 2 days off) since Oct 30th. Today I noticed the female is lying on her side (she never does that) and she is in blue as well (pretty obvious from the picture below). Is it possible to be at this stage in only 30 to 35 days? This is my first attempt at breeding.

Hopefully you super breeders out there can shed some light on the subject. I have not palpated her yet.

    Thanks

    Re: Need some advice

To me she looks to be in the building stage because she is very thick in that last third of the body. Could she have ovulated and started her ovulation shed cycle this quickly. I am confused because it has (at the longest possibility) been 35 days since they were first introduced. If she were to shed in about 15 days then lay eggs 25-30 days later that would make the entire process approximately 75 days start to finish. From all I have read the introductions start around Nov 1 and they lay eggs around early spring.

    Re: Need some advice

Well, truth be known, I didn't really sit around and watch for it. I've just been putting them together and removing them to offer food/clean cages. They were always wound up together when they ere in there though. Should I just wait for the shed to complete and keep putting them together on and off 'till I see eggs or Easter which ever comes first?

I would try palpating first before you decide not to pair them. If you feel follicles that are small then keep pairing them, if they are really big then she probably already ovulated.

Ya it will be fine we usually palpate all of our females and then ultrasound them if we feel anything, and of course half of them are always in shed.
