lavae looking things

hey i cleaned my tank today and saw THOUSANDS of pupae or lavae looking things at the bottom of the gecko tank under the newspaper yes i mean THOUSANDS !! i check the other tanks beside him and all was clean except his tank?! any idea what was it?! i feed him mealworms and superworms as i mention in other posts and could it be the lavae or pupae from the tiny flys (that might be fruit flys) that came from the worms?will it affect him? or it might be the parasite from the gecko?! i cleaned it and the gecko look healthy? any idea? im worried

Might be gnat larvae or fruit flies. Meal worm/super worm larvae are big and I doubt there would be thousands of those in his tank.

Clean them out. I don't think they'd hurt them but you're going to have a butt load of gnat/fruit flies in a few days if you aren't careful.

anyway to get rid of them ? i moved my worms to the living room and trying to get rid of the flys thing its gross *ewww*

I have issues with fruit flies during the summer and I haven't found a good way to keep them away. They will lay eggs in anything moist and it gets really annoying.

its quite humid in my country! lol btw will gecko get cryto from this? and how to prevent gecko from getting cryto? cos i read up and realised that its the most common illness

Crypto? No, it isn't trasmitted from fruit fly larvae and it's not extremely common anymore (at least not as much as it used to be). It's transmitted from animal to animal or from human to animal (As in, from a human that has touched an infected animal). Proper quarantine procedures are a must. 60 - 90 day quarantines are a good idea before letting your animals come in contact with one another. Also, wash your hands well/use hand sanitizer, don't share feeding utensils, etc between quarantine/non-quarantine animals. This is necessary for all animals despite where you may have purchased them from.
