    Rack Schematics?

For those DIY Ball Python rack builders, what is the best wood for them and if you mind telling me your specs on your DIY racks? Thanks

    Re: Rack Schematics?

I have seen alot of people use melamine board. All depends on how nice you want it to look. Also all you have to do is gett he measurements for the size tub you will use and add for a little room. Also from what I think, the melamine will swell slightly with the heat so make sure you adjust for that about 1/4 inch to keep the tubs easy to slide.

Sorry I dont have any schematics but hope this helps a little bit

    Re: Rack Schematics?

melamine is nice because its already water resistant. no need to really even seal the edges in a rack, i havn't had an issue with them yet.

specs are going to change from tub to tub and how many do you want? and what tools do you have avalible to you? i build mine the way I do because I have access to a table saw, without it I would have to have another design.

    To the loser guy
I guess probably like 10 tubs, the tubs like the size for adults, and maybe another rack that holds 15 tubs for juvies.
I have access to a jigsaw, skill saw, and a table saw at school, but I am afraid of table saws, a lot of people get hurt from it.

I've built a few racks in the past. I simply had the wood cut to size at home-depot. You'll have to buy the tubs in advance draw out and figure out you measurements and then buy the wood and have it cut at home-depot. Be sure to measure it before you pay I've had them cut alittle short before.
