Proper Way to Feed Frozen?

Hey all so i've been letting my new bp get used to her cage for about a week now, and i know it's been over a week since her last feeding so I think i'm going to try and do it today. So my question is, what's the proper way to thaw out the frozen mouse. Do I just leave it out of the freezer for a day? put it in warm water right out of the freezer? or use a hair dryer on it?

Hi,I will tell you my method that works for me ok?I take the mouse from the freezer and put it in a glass with warm water(about as worm as you can get from the sink...and then i leave it for like 5 minutes then I change the water again and wait another 5 minutes...then i take the snake from his cage and put it in a separate box...meanwhile i bun the mouse near the light bulb to heat it up so the snake will think it's alive...I leave it near the light bulb for like 3-5 minutes the i hold the mouse by it's tail and wiggle it in front of my snake left right...when I see that it follows it I hold the mouse in place and just wiggle it...and he takes it...My mouse are fuzzyes so they are pretty small...what size are you feeding yours?hope this helps...

I also thaw mine in warm water from the sink until they dont feel stiff and there chest is soft. Then I hit them with the blow dryer for a min and wiggle in front of the snake. Some of mine will eat it if you just heat it and throw it in there but some you have to wiggle it.

I'm not really sure the sizes of mice, this is one they gave me as a freebie though when I bought my bp.

Well I did the warm water, then blow drying and she took the mouse. I guess last night she had also just shed too, had a little bit left on her back/tail. Took her out and had her crawl through a warm/damp cloth to get most of it off. Just a little bit left on the tip of her tail.

Just hope she won't think of being taken out as what happens right before feeding.

i have used the hot water method but ive had problems with exploding mice in the past.. eww

what i do now is take the rodents out of the freezer at least 4 hours before i need to use them (more is better, for example: i just took out all the rats i need for everyone at 12:30, and will probably feed between 7 and 9 tonight). I put them in an extra bin in my rack with the larger rats over the heat tape. I then use a hair dryer to warm them up. What i like about the hair dryer is that the rats dont cool down quickly like they do when they're wet. Some of my snakes have great feeding responses but don't like to be watched so i just lay the prey item down and leave them alone and its gone when i check the next morning but if they were wet they'd soak the cage and get cold. With the hair dryer i can warm a rodent up again real quick if someone is having trouble "locating" their dinner

I use a human heating pad. takes a few hours, but the possibility of their bellies popping is greatly reduced...unless you OVER heat. Done that..not fun.

Just gotta be careful not to heat too fast, and not to over heat.

Oh, I thaw them first. I take them out of the freezer - place them in a plastic bag for a few hours, and then wrap them in the heating pad for a little while.

you should not handle a snake after yo feed it for at least 24h...I recommend 48...as the shed goes I give my ball python a bath before and after he sheds...and he sheds perfectly...

yah those ways are just messy and time consuming.. try this.. the night before take out what you need from the freezer and put it in the fridge.. then the next day they should be fully thawed.. let your kitchen sink tap run all the way hot for a few minutes until it gets nice and hot, plug up the sink and fill to about 1/4 to half full.. put the mice/rats in a rubbermaid tub and let it FLOAT on the surface.. after about 20min flip them.. and then another little bit and they should be good to go!
