Another...Does this girl look gravid thread.

This girl has me confused She last ate on 11/20. She is deep in blue right now and looks swollen beyond belief. In fact, when I hold her up I can see individual lumps. I have been introducing all my snakes since 10/14. Tonight I was palpating a few girls to see if any had follicles and when I got to her, I'm 99% positive I felt eggs in her(2-3 inch soft lumps-like 7 or 8 actually). So if they are eggs and she is in blue obviously this is a prelay shed she is in. The thing that has me puzzled is the fact that she had to have eaten while or a day or so before she ovualated. Have any of you ever had this happen? What are you thoughts on her? Here is a pic....

She does look fat. She could already be gravid, or she could be developing follicles. BG thinks you should be ready for eggs 30 days after she sheds just to be safe.

Sometimes a good meal can help them ovulate.

They do still eat when ovulating or gravid. Some females will continue to eat the whole way through, while others will stop eating in the beginning. It's normal.

That's what I'm thinking. The guy I got her from said she had been in with a Calico. So either she took real quick or is processing that Calicos sperm.

One thing I notice with my gravid girls is the spine starts to look like a point like its getting pushed up. Kinda like a low filled tire that comes to a triangle on top. Basically the eggs take up so much space the spine gets shoved way up, must be real uncomfortable. I think I got a pic somewhere. Also she should look lighter (the glow).

i hope she lays eggs... this breeding process is very fascinating..

when they say the female stops eating... does that mean that the female refuses food or do we stop giving her food?..

Agree with Big Gunns. She could be toward the end of buiding OR you may have missed the ovulation a few weeks back -- I have missed my share! Let her shed, offer her food, and introduce a male. See what happens...

She is refusing food right now. I introduced the male again and they were locked within 20 mins. I think she is just around the corner from ovulation. She would be resisting the male if she were gravid right? When I hold her up I see lumps though, so I'm a bit confused. I don't think I should be seeing lumps from follicles right?
