    Rat fuzzies

Some of my frozen fuzzies are turning reddish to slight purple colored in the freezer are they still okay to feed I only got them a month & a half ago from rodent pro. Also my little ball is 220 grams & my other is 310 grams, should I get larger rats or just feed multiples?I still have 70 fuzzies left.

I'm pretty new at this but here's my opinion. My ball python is almost 5 months old and weighed 225 grams at his last weigh empty. He can take a rat Pup no problem. In fact, the last time I went to the pet store all they had was fuzzies so I bought some. When I got them home and looked at them all together, there were 2 that were smaller then the others. I picked those 2 out and fed him both of them. If your snake will take more than one at a time, go for multiples. I just wait until he's got the first one down and then let him bite and coil the 2nd one. He's taken multiples twice for me no problem. 70 is a lot! But that's what I would do. Just feed multiples. Weigh the rats and take into consideration that your snake can handle a meal that's 10 - 15% his body weight.

Mine is 41/2 months old and weighs 310 grams. He has started eating 2 rat pups(20 grams each) and has no problem so you will be okay will multiple fuzzies!

    Re: Rat fuzzies

I have a female mojave that only weighs about 250.. she eats a weiner rat every 4-5 days..... Im not pushing her to eat watching her to see when she starts roming about looking for food, I would say pups would be on the small side for that snake... but it depends on the animal... Had babies never eaten anything smaller than pups... got a stubborn male that is over 3 months old that refuses anything but hopper mice.... hope to get him broke of the mice thing but may not ever change over.... I know that I will never start animals on mice just makes things harder in the future....
