bad shed ><
My humidity gauge is broken and my snake is in shed. I have no idea how long its been broken but my snake is in a bad shed because of it. I hadn't noticed anything wrong till to day I had to take her out because she made this huge poo lol that i had to clean, so i let her down on the floor and I soon noticed that her shed is coming off in bits, so i tap the humidity gauge and the needle just goes phbbbtttttt.......and falls, apparently broken. So my whole wondering is what should i do for my snake??

I was told by a member on here to put tin foil or plexi over part of the top if its a screen top and place a damp towel over that.. but it can get mold so check it daily too.. someone also added to spray the tank daily with a mist bottle....
I used the tinfoil and spagum moss ( buy it from home depot or lowes pet stores charge too much) what I did was put it in a tub-a-ware container and drill holes in the cantainer and soak the moss with water, pour out most the water and place the top on it and put it in the tank by the light, it will help with humidity and that will help with his/her shed.. I'm no pro but its what I did and it's workin well thus far.. Good luck
Cheers

My snakes enjoy a warm bath during shed, the extra moisture helps as new mexico winters (and any other season) are very dry. Even when they are having a bad shed a good warm bath seems to help especially in a rack system the extra moisture stays trapped a bit and helps to.

You can try soaking your snake is 80*F water for 10-20 minutes. The water should only go halfway up the snakes side. Make sure you keep the snake in sight while soaking just to make sure nothing goes wrong.
Then do your best to keep the humidity high in the tank. Turn off lamps (they will suck the humidity out of the air) and cover the screen top with aluminum foil tape.

Im going to give her a soak, but the thing is Im using an overhead lamp to help heat the tank along with an UTH and if i turn the lamp off it be too cold in my tank, my room is only about 55-60 degrees for some reason so i dont think i would be able to do that ><

If you can't get away with not using the lamp then just mist the tank a few times a day. Make sure it isn't wet and evaporates over time. You don't want mold growing D:

Vinegar is not toxic to ball pythons so it should be fine if you clean it out. If anything the cage will just smell a bit like vinegar, lol.
