    Pinkie mice?

I was talking to the guy at my regular pet shop last week, and he suggested giving my leo a pinkie mouse once in a while. She's only about 30-35g right now, which I guess is around "half-grown" for a female leopard gecko... is she ready to try a pinkie yet? And does anyone here feed them to their geckos?

P.S. Her usual diet is 5-10 mealworms every other day (sometimes daily), and ~10 medium crickets every 10 days or so.

    Re: Pinky mice?

You can try offering a very tiny pinky (few hours old) every now and then just don't over do it.

I have tried with mine but no interest on their part.

    Re: Pinkie mice?

I know some people do give them to breeding females but I've never offered my guys any. They are doing well on their insect only diet so I just leave it at that (I've never bred them). Sort of a "if it ain't broke don't fix it" thing
They may eat them in the wild but I just figure they are more insectivores than not, or so the general consensus says.

    Re: Pinkie mice?

Is there a reason he suggested you offer a pinkie mouse once in awhile? I have never given any of my leos a pinkie mouse. I might consider trying it if weight was a concern or if I was having a hard time getting a females weight up after breeding but other then that I don't see the need personally.

    Re: Pinkie mice?

i would give my females them after/during breeding once in a while. its just kinda interesting to see a leo eat something other than a bug. i would think 35 grams is sort of small to try to eat a pinkie.
