    Lab block diet

Just switched from pot belly pig feed to mazuri lab block diet....
Noticed that the poop smell is a lot worse I'm guessing it from more protien...
    Any other feed suggestions

How often are you cleaning? I use Mazuri and I clean about twice/week. Typically the smell isn't that bad for me.

    Re: Lab block diet

I clean once a week I have over 50 snakes and 100 rats....
I spot clean and give water daily... When I had same amount of animals on hog feed the smell wasn't that bad I just switched this week and the smell is very noticable ....
Would clean twice a week but that's too much and having a full time job a three year old etc

    Re: Lab block diet

i recently added some new rats to my colony, and the rats i picked up were fed harlan and when they got home i could def tell the difference in smell. i think it is the difference in protien, my masuri that i feed them have 19% protien, and i think the harlan has somthing like 23% protien.

    Re: Lab block diet

    yeah thats what i figured........
just like when I used to weight train....and took a lot of protein suppliments..............whew boy stay outta my way........and da gym bathrrom bring your respirator........lol stinky poooo!

noticed the feces are bigger and a different color also....i like the lab block diet because less watse on feeding throught the top of rack as oppossed to just scooping a bunch of hog feed pellets and throwing it in...
cost twice as much though.......want to see it last just as long hopefully .....
i figuered i was wasting close to half the pellets during cleaning or turning to dust.
i am really debating building this grow out tub maybe i'll build a hopper..........to use the pellets........unless i can control the smell maybe a vent in ceiling in the room also instead of using just the window.....
