Every single one of my snakes is high contrast and probably the best example of the morph ever produced.

I've noticed this too, so I just ignore the "high contrast" label and look at the snake and its parents. It's really annoying sometimes 'cause I'm always on the lookout for low-contrast Albinos...but if I look at just the headlines, no one has "low-contrast" Albinos!

I've seen some fantastic, extremely high-contrast Albinos for sale, but I don't think they're limited to only certain breeders....

Well here is a VPI line albino that I have and I would consider this high contrast. Compared to some other adults I have this one blows them away. Im not trying to say your right or wrong BG cuz even from the short time Ive been here I know that never happens LOL..Im just a leeetle guy but I would be curious on your opinion...

It seems like an awful lot of 'paradox albinos' come from that line too. I wonder if one has anything to do with the other?

I see one problem with your post BG, and thats the fact that there was alot more truth to this 5 years ago. Now that HC albinos are pretty much everywhere including your small time breeders. I have to disagree with you when you say only the "professional breeders" can be trusted. Id also like to mention that making snakes go boom boom is like making high quality macaroni, and anyone can have the knowledge, and do it effectively.

I realize theres more to it then what ive put into this simple post, but just had to voice my opinion on the subject.

Actually when I said that "HC albinos are pretty much everywhere" I did mean that true HC albinos are very popular now. Its no longer just a hand full of breeders who have them.


I never said you were not correct with the message u wanted to get out to people. your right, there are alot of people trying to use the HC label as a selling point when in fact, they shouldnt be. Its up to the buyer to know better and investigate and look into what the breeder is actually selling.

I replied with the intent to agree with you in the fact that buyers need to be careful, but also like I said before, I disagree with the fact that only select few breeders offer these true HC albinos.

Its also a fact that you can get faded albinos from HC clutches. from what I know faded albinos, ur average joe albino, and HC albinos are not a different mutation, they are the same mutation with different results from selective breeding.

Yes there are only a "select few breeders" selling them. 9 outta 10(BG estimate) selling fakes proves that to BG. Once you see what BG considers a "true high contrast" albino...you'll know what BG is talking about. There are many pretty albinos out there, but not many that BG would consider "high contrast". Most are not.

Just curious. How do you know the "fact" that you can get "faded albinos" from a "high contrast" clutch? Sounds to me like you are going by what people have labeled a "high contrast" albino that produces ugly ducklings.

Albino's are just boring to me. Maybe its because it my first constricter was an albino burm and I got him in 1995. Albino everything has been around forever. The whole high contrast thing is a load of bull when you consider what they look like 5 years down the road. Like pastels or calicos. It doesnt matter what you call it as a baby. All babies look good. But is it gonna fade away? Brown out? Loose all its orange? etc..

This is why I went for the caramel albinos. SO much more you can do with them and they look good as adults.

Stay awy from the gigh contrast thing. Even if it was created starting with a very dark normal with solid blue/black markings and the babies look amazing. It just wont look that good as an adult.
